Weekend Camping

Last weekend was actually our second weekend in a row to head out on a camping trip. The weather has been perfect. It already feels like fall with the cool temperatures. While our actual trip was dry, there had been quite a bit of rain during the week before, so the woods where we were hiking looked like this:
Beautiful, but awfully wet.

I resigned myself to a very muddy weekend.

My mom brought hiking sticks for all the grandkids.


They came in very handy when navigating some of those muddy trails.

And you can just imagine how much Isaac liked to swipe them.
As much as camping is a lot of work for the grown-ups involved, I love what an adventure it is for the kids.
And I suppose really, it's an adventure for us grown-ups too.
